Summary
Creating an OleDB In-DB connection using the Microsoft SQL Server data source with a SQL Server Native Client 11.0 connection string in Manage In-DB Connections generates an Unhandled Exception error. This error also occurs anytime you go back to edit the alias/connection after creation.
Environment

Error: "An Unhandled Exception Occurred" When using OleDB with SQL Server In-DB Connections

This defect has been addressed and resolved in version 2023.1 of Alteryx Designer.

Creating an OleDB In-DB connection using the Microsoft SQL Server data source with a SQL Server Native Client 11.0 connection string in Manage In-DB Connections generates an Unhandled Exception error. This error also occurs anytime you go back to edit the alias/connection after creation.


Prerequisites
  • Alteryx Designer
    • 2022.1, 2022.3
  • Manage In-DB Connections
  • SQL Server OLE DB
Cause

A defect (TDCE-68) has been logged to address this.

 

Resolution

Upgrade to version 2023.1 to resolve this issue.

As a workaround, please use ODBC driver.
