How To
The Jupyter Flow tool and Python-based tools use a third-party utility (shiv) to create the Python zip application and this utility unpacks the dependencies into the home folder (c:\users\) by default when running the tool. This article provides the steps to change the default location if needed.
Environment
  • Alteryx Designer, Server
    • Version(s): >= 2020.4
    Prerequisites
    • Jupyter Flow tool
      •  Version(s): All
    • Python-based tools that use Python SDK version >= 2.0 and < 2.3.
      • Alteryx Python-based connectors such as Power BI Output, SharePoint connectors, Tableau connectors
      • Custom tools
      • Third-party tools
    Procedure
    1. Search for Edit the system environment variables in the Windows key and open it.
    2. In the Advanced tab of the System Properties window, click the Environment Variables button.
    3. Under the System Variables section, add the following variable:
    Variable: SHIV_ROOT
    Value: <LOCATION WHERE YOU WANT THE SITE-PACKAGES TO UNPACK>

    Example:
    image.png
    1. Click the OK button to save the changes.
    2. Restart the system.

    Note: As this is a system environment variable, this variable will apply to applications that use shiv.
