How To

Microsoft Access Runtime/Database Engine is required for the following file formats:

  • Microsoft Excel Binary (.xlsb)
  • Microsoft Excel Legacy (.xlsx)
  • Microsoft Access (.accdb)

If you do not see these options in the In/Out tools, a separate installation is required from Microsoft. The driver does not come with our installation but from either Microsoft Office or a separate driver installation.

A full Microsoft Office or Access installation will have installed the necessary components on the machine. However, most organizations do not install all components.

Please follow the instructions in this article to download and install the required driver for these file formats.

Environment
  • Alteryx Designer
    • All versions
Procedure
  1. Choose a driver version based on your version of Designer (64-bit):

  3. Restart Designer (or the Service if installing on Server)
  4. After installation, you should be able to find the Excel Binary, Excel Legacy, and Microsoft Access (.accdb) options in the Input Data tool and the Output Data tool.
