The following data formats will be deprecated in Designer 2025.1. Initially, a warning message will be displayed to customers using these formats. Additionally, read and write support for the file formats will be limited.

Alteryx Designer 2025.1 using formats that will be deprecated.

Alteryx Designer will phase out support for these connectors. Users should switch to the alternative formats listed below.

MDB (Microsoft Access 2003)

MDB (Microsoft Access 2003) was superseded by a 2007 version.

Suggested replacement: Microsoft Access (accdb)

Note: Microsoft has deprecated support for the Microsoft Jet Database Engine 4.0 libraries and considers the Data Access Objects (DAO) technology obsolete. Refer to “Which Access file format should I use?” for more details.

MDB (ESRI Personal Geodatabase)

Note: Built on Microsoft Access 2003.  ESRI states: “there is no viable or supported path forward for offering personal geodatabases in ArcGIS Pro.

SZ (Alteryx Spatial Zip file)

Suggested replacement: Alteryx Database (yxdb)

Note: SZ was an early format that was superseded by YXDB.

MID/MIF (MapInfo Interchange)

Suggested replacement: Mapinfo Professional Table (tab)

Note: MID/MIF is a limited format with a file size is cap of 2GB.

GEO (SRC Geography)

Suggested replacement: ESRI GeoDatabase (gdb)

Note: GEO is an early Alteryx format from before the company changed its name from SRC to Alteryx.

Tentative deprecation phases

• 2025.1 

1. Introduction of a warning messages alerting users that they are using an old file format and should update their files to a newer format.
2. Removing Read and Write support for new workflows. This involves removing it from the Single Access Point menu. Users can still enter it by selecting in a file browse or typing in a path.

• End of Life: Complete removal from Alteryx Designer will take place in the future.
