If the Enable Proxy Credentials option in the User Settings > Proxy of the Designer is enabled but the Proxy requires password option is unchecked, the proxy credentials (username and password), if set, will still be added to the request header to connect to the proxy server. 

For the Server, removing the Proxy requires password option in Alteryx System Settings, still passes the proxy credentials to the proxy server.

NOTE: This behaviour is ONLY seen for the Manual Proxy Server setup.

A defect (GCSE-3415/TPM-4671) has been logged to address this.

If adding proxy credentials to the proxy server causes an issue with your Proxy Server and you are not using the fixed version listed below, please remove the proxy credentials until the fix has been included in the tool that you are using.

To remove the proxy credentials, please refer to the following solutions.

Solution A: For Alteryx Designer

Please uncheck the Enable Proxy Credentials selection in the Options > Edit User Settings > User Settings of Designer.

Solution B: For Alteryx Server

Please remove the proxy credentials in the Alteryx System Settings. You are required to remove the value in the Username and Password fields, followed by unchecking the 'Proxy requires password' option.

NOTE: Alteryx Designer in the server mode uses the proxy credentials in Alteryx System Settings if set. If the proxy credentials in the User Settings are also set in the Designer, they will be used instead when the connector is run in the Designer. When you first edit the proxy information in Designer, if you find the proxy credentials are predefaulted, they are actually pulled from Alteryx System Settings.

If the Run As User is set to use a Servcice Account which has the proxy credentials set in the User Settings in Designer, this will be used. Hence, if after removing the proxy credentials in System Settings and you still find the proxy credenitals being used, please check the User Settings in the Designer.
