Summary
Configuring the SharePoint Files Tools
Issue

Within the SharePoint Files Tools, selecting the "Provide Username, Password, and URL" or "Connect to URL with Windows Account" connection type returns no action or the following error:

 

Failed to connect to SharePoint
Invalid Username/Password or URL
Error Code 401

Cause

These connection types are intended for authentication with SharePoint Server (On-Premise) instances.

Resolution

Utilize the "Sign in using Browser" or "Provide Authentication Information" connection types for SharePoint in Microsoft 365 (SharePoint Online) instances.
