How To

Enable Performance Profiling for a workflow that runs on Alteryx Server

Prerequisites
  • Alteryx Server needs to be available to your organization and active and you need to have the appropriate permissions to save/upload a workflow.
  • Alteryx Designer Desktop needs to be available to you and active.
  • Learn where to access Performance Profiling in your workflow.
Procedure
1. The easiest way to capture run times for individual tool is to Enable Performance Profiling under Runtime settings for your workflow. You can enable that option by first clicking on your Canvas in your workflow > on the left-hand side in your configuration window you will click on the Runtime tab. >   towards the bottom of the configuration window you will find a checkbox for “Enable Performance Profiling” > check it.

2. Once this is enabled, run the workflow to make sure everything is running as expected, then save it to Alteryx Server.

3. The settings should persist in workflow runs on server and when you run the workflow on Server you will be able to see the following line items under Workflow Results > click on arrow down on the workflow you ran > look for "Processor or Tool ID" to identify the tools with long "Profile Time".
