This article shows Alteryx One end users how to activate Alteryx Designer when Designer can connect to the internet.

If you want to activate Designer without internet access, use the Offline Activation Guide instead.

🔔 Important: Before you can activate Designer, your Alteryx One administrator must invite you to the appropriate workspace and assign you a Full User or a Basic User role. If you cannot access Designer or complete activation, contact your Alteryx One administrator. Learn more about the users roles in Alteryx One.  

Alteryx One (unique URLs based on the region where your workspace was created)

• Confirm that your Alteryx One administrator has invited you to the correct workspace and assigned you a role.
• Confirm that you have signed up for an Alteryx One account and joined the workspace. You may have received an invitation email similar to the screenshot shown below.

• Confirm that Alteryx Designer is downloaded and installed on your machine.
  • For 2025.1 or later: follow this guidance.
  • For 2024.2 or earlier: follow this guidance.

🔔 Note: Designer 2026.1+ must be installed via the Alteryx One app.

Alteryx Designer activation is supported by a simplified sign-in experience through Alteryx One. Starting with Alteryx Designer 2025.1, you can activate Designer by signing in with your Alteryx One account instead of entering a license key. This updated experience helps you get started with Designer faster and access the product across different supported environments.

🔔 Note: Alteryx Designer 2025.1 and 2025.2 supports both Alteryx One sign-in activation and license key activation. However, if your subscription was renewed through Alteryx One, existing license keys remain valid for a 180-day transition period after the license key expiration date. After that transition period ends, you must activate Designer by signing into your Alteryx One account.

Follow the steps below to complete the online activation process based on your Designer version:

🔔 Note: Beginning with Alteryx Designer 2026.1, activation will fully transition to the Alteryx One sign-in experience and license keys will no longer be supported.

Activate Designer 2025.1 or Later with Alteryx One

1. Open Alteryx Designer.

• • If the activation window opens automatically, continue to Step 2.
  • If the activation window does not open automatically, select Options → Manage Licenses.

• • In Manage Licenses, select Activate New License.

2. Select Sign in to Activate Your License.

3. Select your region and then select Launch Browser.

4. You’ll be redirected to the Alteryx One login page on your web browser. Enter your email address and select Next.

5. Select your relevant workspace.

6. Enter your password and the one-time verification code sent to your email, if prompted.
   
   
7. Your account will be verified automatically.

8. Return to Designer. Your Designer instance will now be activated. Select Start Solving to begin using Designer.

Activate Designer 2024.2 or Earlier with a License Key from Alteryx One

1. Sign in to Alteryx One on your web browser, select your relevant workspace, and select Download & Activate.

2. Select Older Designer Versions.

3. Scroll down. Under License Key Activation, select Get Key.

4. Select Copy Key.

5. Open Alteryx Designer.

• • If the activation window opens automatically, continue to Step 6.
  • If the activation window does not open automatically, select Options → Manage Licenses.

• • In Manage Licenses, select Activate New License.

6. Enter your email address, paste the license key, and select Activate.

7. Your Designer instance will now be activated. Select Start Solving to begin using Designer.

Troubleshooting
